Barnsley striker Iain Hume has spoken positively to
Sky Sports News following his release from hospital.
Hume suffered a fractured skull after being caught by Chris Morgan in Barnsley's game against Sheffield United on 8th November.
He had to undergo emergency surgery and spent time in a high dependency unit in hospital, while he claimed earlier this week that he 'could have died'.
The 25-year-old is now delighted to be back home and thankful to everyone who has supported him.
Asked how he was, Hume told
Sky Sports News: "Not too bad. I am home and I get to spend time with my family, so it is just good to be out of hospital and to be on the path to getting fit again.
"It is a serious injury but I am well and on the road to recovery. I look forward to getting back."
Hume is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the season and the former Leicester man insists he will not take any risks in his comeback.
He admits his situation may have been a lot worse, adding: "I could still be in hospital and could have been told that I would never play again.
"But I have been told there is a great chance of coming back. It is just going to take some time and I need to stay relaxed about it and not rush things.
"I was told it was a rough couple of days but it is something I can't really remember so I am just thankful they have done everything they have."
