Mick McCarthy has spoken of his delight as Wolves close in on the signing of Hearts defender Christophe Berra.
The Championship leaders have been allowed to open discussions with Berra after agreeing a fee with Hearts.
The 24-year-old is undergoing the first part of his medical on Saturday evening and a deal is expected to be pushed through before Monday's deadline.
McCarthy has been tracking the Scotland international for some time and believes he possesses several key qualities.
"We've agreed a fee and if he passes a medical, which I've no doubt he will, then he'll be signed," McCarthy told Wolves' official website.
"I'm delighted because Christophe will be a really good addition to the squad.
"He's 6ft 3in, left footed with a bit of pace and a good defender who reads the ball well and is good in the air."
McCarthy feels Berra can help Wolves in their bid to win promotion to the Premier League.
He explained: "He was the captain of Hearts and is an ambitious lad who's in the Scotland squad at the moment and will be driven in wanting to get to the Premier League.
"We tried to sign Christophe last summer and we seem to have done it now which I'm delighted with."
