Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is unsure whether striker Chris Iwelumo will be able to play for the club again this season.
The former Charlton and Colchester marksman was stretchered off in Monday's 2-0 defeat to Birmingham after being scythed down by Lee Carsley.
The dreadful challenge saw Carsley dismissed, and McCarthy doubts whether he will be fit again this campaign after suffering ligament damage in the tackle.
"It's relatively good news, as in it's not as bad as we all thought it was going to be, but he's still got ligament damage." he told Sky Sports News.
"We'll still have to monitor him. He won't be fit for this weekend of course and we're not sure if he's going to be fit for any of the other games."
McCarthy has conceded he was still fuming 24 hours after their defeat to the Blues at St Andrews, but after reflecting on the manner of the defeat he is still happy with their overall position.
Wolves went into Monday's top-of-the-table clash knowing victory would edge them one step closer to a Premier League return, but mistakes from Wayne Hennessey and Christophe Berra proved costly.
"The mood is alright and I think that has to be led by me," he continued. "On the Tuesday I was bitterly disappointed. I wasn't very good company I have to be honest.
"When you look at it, it was two mistakes. Two schoolboy errors cost us. It wasn't bad form, because the five games prior to that we'd won four and drawn one.
"We're the team at the top, but we still have to win our games. We can be caught, but if we do our business right then we're okay."
