Ashley Barnes has signed a new two-year contract with Plymouth after breaking into the side earlier this season.
The highly-rated teenager only made his full debut in the 1-0 win over Wolves at Molineux in late February.
He managed to retain his place in the side until the end of the season and produced a series of eye-catching performances.
Several Premier League clubs were understood to be interested in securing his services but skysports.com revealed earlier this week that Barnes was set to shun a move and instead sign an extension with Plymouth.
The new deal will keep the striker at Home Park until 2011 and Argyle boss Paul Sturrock is looking forward to working with him over the coming seasons.
"I'm very hopeful that with more work on him, Ashley will get better and better," said Sturrock.
"He came in at an important time of the season for us and didn't let us down. He wants more goals but that will come."
