Blackpool's versatile Danny Coid is close to signing a new contract and is expected to put pen-to-paper this week.
The defender-cum-midfielder is out of contract this summer and has attracted interest from a number of clubs.
However the 27-year-old is thought to want to extend his stay with the Seasiders after being with the club since 1995.
New Blackpool manager Ian Holloway knows the importance of keeping hold of Coid and the boss added that striker Brett Ormerod should also sign a new deal next week.
"I think Danny is going to sign up this week, if not then definitely next week when he is back off holiday," he told skysports.com.
"The chairman is back from Portugal this weekend and will be sitting down with Brett Ormerod's agent to try and finalise a deal for him, so hopefully that will also be resolved by the end of next week.
"It's great news to keep them on board because they are good players. Brett has obviously had a great career since leaving here and it will be great to have him back.
"Those two players were instrumental in keeping this club in the Championship last season, so it will be a boost to keep them here."
Holloway also has plans on playing Coid in a more settled position next season, something which he feels will benefit the player.
"Danny is 27 and I still believe he has a lot left to give to this club before he moves on," he added.
"He can play in two or three positions, but I'm going to try and nail him down to one next season so that he can fulfil his potential in that role.
"It will either be the full-back role or a midfield berth depending on how many injuries we've got.
"He won't be playing left-back though because I think he is better suited on the right side of the field, be it right-back or right centre midfield."
