Bristol City midfielder Cole Skuse has admitted he is pleased to have put an end to speculation over his future by signing a new three-year deal.
The 23-year-old penned his new contract last week amid rumours that he could possibly leave the club in the summer.
Stoke City were strongly linked with the player but the boyhood Robins fan was more than happy to extend his stay at Ashton Gate.
Skuse added that the club matched his own personal ambition, with City looking to reach the Premier League for the first time in their history.
"I've managed to sign a new contract," he told the Evening Post. "The club offered the deal to me just before the season ended and I've signed it.
"It's nice to have my future secured for another three years, especially as a Bristol lad and a supporter of the club.
"I remember when I signed my first ever professional contract there were a lot of proud people amongst my family and friends. That doesn't go away.
"Our aim for the new season is to improve on last term and a step further than the season before that (when they lost to Hull in the Championship play-off final).
"Our target is always to improve and reach the top of the league. Hopefully we can achieve that next season."
