West Brom star James Morrison has had surgery on a niggling heel injury.
The Scottish international has been struggling with the problem for some time and the injury forced him to miss the final five games of last season.
The club hoped rest over the summer might correct the problem, but with the injury failing to heal properly they have decided to send him under the knife.
The 23-year-old will now miss the club's tour of Slovenia next week but is expected to return in around 10 days.
