Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark Beevers believes he has become a more confident player since Alan Irvine took over as manager.
Irvine replaced Brian Laws as Hillsborough boss in early January and he has won five of his seven matches in charge of the Championship club.
Beevers has featured regularly under Irvine and the highly-rated youngster is now aiming to keep his place for the rest of the season.
"I've become more confident since the new manager came," Beevers told the Sheffield Star.
"I tried to make a good impression; I started the first game, at Barnsley, and it was probably one of the best games I've had for a while.
"I've been in there ever since and I just want keep my shirt for the rest of the season.
"The gaffer has coached us on things that are really helpful. I don't know about the rest of the lads, but I've learned a lot more from what he has told me.
"I've put that into my game, and I think it's shown in recent performances. As a back five, including the keeper, we are communicating better, our positional play is better, and our defending has not just been about the back four - it's the whole team.
"We've got a good squad where someone can step in if someone is not performing or injured."
