Defender likely to be fit again within two to three weeks

Paul Hart expects Paddy McCarthy to be back within three weeks after the Crystal Palace defender underwent further shoulder surgery. McCarthy has not played a first-team game for Palace since the end of October and subsequently required an operation on his shoulder. Palace were hoping the Irishman would be back in training by the end of February, but his comeback has been delayed due to a minor procedure. However, Hart does not anticipate it being a long-term issue and has suggested McCarthy could return to action before the end of the month. "Paddy had an operation to remove a couple of screws which were causing him some discomfort," Hart told the South London Press. "He's happy with the outcome and so are we. He should be looking at a return in two to three weeks if everything is okay."
