Nottingham Forest have offered new contracts to five of their up and coming youngsters.
Among those to have fresh terms put to them is promising midfielder Mark Byrne.
The Irishman made 44 appearances during a season-long loan spell at Rushden & Diamonds in 2009/10, scoring seven goals.
He is regarded as a hot prospect for the future and at 21 years old still has plenty of time in which to make an impact at the City Ground.
His first-team opportunities to date have been limited to cameo outings off the bench, but he will be pushing hard for further involvement next term.
Forest have also offered extensions to young player of the year Karlton Watson, goalkeeper Zannettos Mytides, full-back Kieron Freeman and striker Tom Mullen.
A host of other young stars have not been so fortunate, though, with Shane Redmond, Jordan Fairclough, Jean Biansumba, Danny Elliott, Tim Hopkinson, Sean McCashin, Carl Sibson, Matthew Sykes, George Thompson, Max Wright and Tony Diagne all released from the academy ranks.
