Nottingham Forest manager Billy Davies could not fault his players despite having to settle for a fourth successive draw.
Forest had to come back from an early header from Millwall's Steve Morison, who netted for the fifth time this season.
Forward Dexter Blackstock atoned for his penalty miss in the ninth minute to grab an equaliser with just 10 minutes to spare from a Chris Cohen cross.
The point gave Forest their fourth draw in a row and needing a win to boost their league fortunes, however Davies praised the determination of his players to come back from an early setback.
"The effort and attitude was first class. We gave away a soft goal but showed great character to come back into the game," he said.
"Missing a penalty was a huge blow to us but the players stuck at it and I was very proud of the performance.
"We should have taken all three points but it was one of those games again - their keeper has made some fantastic saves.
"The fans' reaction tells you everything. They were superb and realised the effort that was going in from the players.
"We're undefeated in four games now and anyone who has watched them will tell you that in three of those games we deserved a lot more. But we will carry on doing our very best with the resources we have.
"We have lost Robert Earnshaw through injury today and we are down to 18 players but I can't ask any more from them."
Onslaught
And those sentiments were echoed by Lions boss Kenny Jackett who was pleased with how his players coped with an intense Forest onslaught in the second half.
However he did admit he was disappointed with the way in which Forest equalised.
"My keeper was disappointed about it. The Forest centre-forward has climbed all over him but we got very little from the officials so I was not surprised," he said.
"I thought it was a very good game and when we scored the early goal it set it up nicely because we had something to hold onto and we knew Forest would come at us.
"Yes, they had pressure and created chances but we always looked dangerous on the break and could have scored more goals.
"Even when Forest got their equaliser, Darren Carter had an excellent chance to win it but at the end of the day I was pleased with the point.
"Forest are a good side, they have an excellent home record and they can bring good players off the bench but we battled through it and were not that far away from hanging on to take all three points.
"It will be a very good point if we do well in our next two home games."
