Doncaster are on the hunt for a loan striker after news that Billy Sharp will be out for at least six weeks.
Sharp scored in the 2-0 victory over former club Sheffield United on Saturday but limped out of the action soon afterwards.
A scan on Monday revealed the sharp-shooter tore his hamstring and he will be out for a minimum of six weeks, leaving the club short up front.
Rovers assistant boss Richard O'Kelly has revealed the club are hoping to bring in a player on loan before Saturday's game at Reading, but only if the new striker can fit in with the culture at the Keepmoat Stadium.
He told the
Sheffield Star: "At the moment we are looking to try and bring someone in if we possibly can. We play various systems so we want someone who is versatile.
"It has to be a certain type of player that fits in with how we do things here at Doncaster Rovers.
"We want someone who is a good personality and that can mix with the rest of the squad. We want someone to drop into what we are doing.
"We would like to get someone in before Saturday but, then again, the side that finished against Sheffield United would be more than adequate for what we want to do."
Duo return
On a more positive note, Doncaster defensive duo James Chambers and Wayne Thomas are nearing a return to first-team duty following injury.
Chambers, 29, has not featured since the draw with Ipswich on 17th April due to a knee problem, while 31-year-old Thomas, who has been missing with a similar complaint, was last involved in the defeat at Cardiff on 21st August.
The pair were not fit enough to take their place on the bench against the Blades but O'Kelly believes they could by involved in some way for the trip to Reading at the weekend.
He added: "If they get a full week of training under their belts, they have got a great chance of being involved in some shape or form at Reading.
"They are quality players and they will enhance what we have already got at the football club so it will be great to have them back out on the pitch."
