Killie accept bid for striker but decision now in his hands

Mixu Paatelainen has revealed that Kilmarnock have agreed a fee with Scunthorpe for Conor Sammon and that the decision is now in the hands of the player. The striker has attracted attention following a series of impressive performances in the SPL this season and scored again in Saturday's 1-1 draw against St Johnstone. But Killie manager Paatelainen admits Sammon could now be set to join Scunthorpe, if he decides he wants to embark on a new challenge. "There's been contact from Scunthorpe and it's more or less agreed by the clubs - it's down to Conor whether anything happens," said Paatelainen. "At this moment in time we don't know whether he goes or not. I haven't been in touch with our chairman today. "I'll have a private chat with Conor and, if he asks my opinion, I'll talk to him. "If he goes, he would be a massive loss, as somebody who's scored 16 goals in half a season is a great tally." Scunthorpe manager Ian Baraclough, meanwhile, is hopeful of pushing through a deal in the next few days. "There's no hiding the fact that I want people like him to come to the club. "I want to strengthen as soon as possible. There's no guarantee that people will come into the building but I'd like to do the business early in the week."
