Defender signs up for another year with Lions

Darren Purse has signed a one-year contract extension at Millwall, keeping him at the club until 2012. The 34-year-old penned a short-term deal with the club in January, which was set to expire at the end of the season. He has, however, made a positive impression upon his arrival at The Den and has been rewarded with fresh terms. A lifelong Lions supporter, Purse is delighted to have committed his future to the club for the foreseeable future. "Everyone knows how thrilled I was to have the chance to play for Millwall, and things couldn't have gone any better for me," he told the club's official website.

Settled

"I've settled in with the other lads really well, and to be involved in the promotion race going into the final month of the season is great for everyone here. "Whatever happens in the last seven games, I can only see things getting better and better for Millwall, with the manager, the set-up and the squad we have here. "I'm really looking forward to being part of it." Purse has helped the Lions into eighth spot in the Championship table, three points adrift of the play-off places.
