Hull City goalkeeper Matt Duke has admitted his sadness at his impending departure from the club.

Goalkeeper, Fagan, Gardner and Belaid to be released

Long-serving Hull City goalkeeper Matt Duke has admitted his sadness at his impending departure from the club. The 33-year-old will leave the KC Stadium in June after being told he will be released and that will bring to an end a seven-year association with the club. Craig Fagan, Anthony Gardner and Tijani Belaid are also set to leave, and Duke has admitted his personal disappointment. "I've been here a long time and I've got a lot of feeling for the club so it's really sad to be coming to an end," Duke told the Hull Mail. "But it's one of those things in football where you know your time will be up sooner or later."

Success

Hull manager Nigel Pearson told Duke of his decision on Monday and he was not surprised following loan moves for Vito Mannone and Brad Guzan. "It didn't really come as a shock," he said. "The goalkeeping situation this season gave me a pretty good idea about it. In the games I played I thought I did okay but the final decision always rests with the manager. "There's no bad feeling whatsoever. The manager has to make decisions he thinks are right. "I wished him well and I hope he can bring a lot of success back to the club."
