Bristol City's new signing Yannick Bolasie is determined to help steer the Robins into the Premier League next season.
The Congolese winger joined for an undisclosed fee from Plymouth Argyle earlier this month after impressing for the Devon-based club.
The Robins struggled to overcome their poor start to last season and mount a serious promotion push after being hailed as one of the title favourites, but Bolasie says he is keen to challenge at the right end of the table after suffering back-to-back relegations with Plymouth.
"Everyone's ambition in the Championship is to be challenging for a top-six place and ultimately promotion, but we really should be aiming at that considering the squad we have," Bolasie told skysports.com.
"Obviously, Bristol City have been firm favourites to go up before and haven't lived up to that billing, but it is up to us this season to make sure that we fulfil that potential this year.
"It has been very difficult to take over the past few seasons, but I guess that that is just football, with ups and downs aplenty during a player's career.
"Hopefully, Bristol City will turn out to be an up and we can do well next season."
The 22-year-old left the Pilgrims rebuilding for life in League Two, but he expects his former club to bounce back next season, as long as they keep faith with experienced manager Peter Reid.
He added: "I think that they will do well next season, but only if they keep faith in the manager, Peter Reid, and his coaching staff, such as fitness coach Scott Russell.
"I honestly feel that those players can do well in League Two next season and turn the club's fortunes around."
