Birmingham claim they have received no contact from their neighbours

Birmingham have had no approach from West Brom for their manager Chris Hughton, according to reports. Hughton had been widely regarded as the favourite for the Hawthorns post vacated when Roy Hodgson became the England manager at the start of May. The 53-year-old boss guided Newcastle to the Championship title in 2010 but was denied another promotion in charge of Birmingham when the club fell short in this season's play-offs. Albion had been thought to be preparing a bid for the Blues manager but Hughton's current employers claim they have had no contact with their local rivals regarding the matter. Another reported Baggies target, Italian coach Claudio Ranieri, was appointed as the new Monaco boss this week. The latest developments put Ralf Rangnick firmly in the spotlight. It was revealed earlier this week that the former Schalke coach is on West Brom's radar and he would appear to be at the front of the queue now.
