The teenage midfielder, signed from Southend at the end of the transfer window, has been restricted to two substitute appearances for his new club.
But with Peterborough in the midst of their worst start to a league season, Ferdinand knows his chance could come sooner rather than later.
He said: "Everyone wants to play at this level and it's a challenge I relish. Hopefully a few more appearances will come along for me."
Saturday's trip to Hull is United's next chance to win a first point, and Ferdinand told the Peterborough Telegraph: "It's not been all doom and gloom. The players still have a good laugh at the training ground we're all trying to pick ourselves up.
"Playing away could make a difference to some people. It depends how you deal with pressure. But whether we're at home or on the road, the goal is still the same and that is to get three points."
