Troy Deeney, returning from a spell in prison, kept his cool to bang in his 87th minute spot-kick after Danny Ward was adjudged to have tripped Fernando Forestieri.
The result ended the Terriers' six-match unbeaten run and Grayson admitted: "I would have been disappointed not to have got the penalty if it had happened the other way.
"Danny Ward put his foot in and the lad has gone over his thigh. I don't think
it was a blatant penalty but I have no complaints.
"We were just a little lacklustre but that's only our second defeat of the season and the Championship is a learning curve for all of us.
"Expectations have increased and this is probably the first time we were favourites to win a game and that can get in people's heads."
