Coyle backed for Clarets return

Owen Coyle favourite to be next Burnley boss

Sky Bet have installed Owen Coyle as the 7/4 favourite to be the next Burnley manager after Eddie Howe agreed to return to Bournemouth. The Clarets are on the look-out for a new manager after a compensation package was agreed with the Cherries, paving way for Howe to join the club he led to promotion back in 2009/10. The online betting firm are expecting Coyle to follow in the same vein as Howe by returning the club where he enjoyed his greatest success, having led the Clarets to promotion before controversially departing to take over local rivals Bolton. Coyle is followed in the next Burnley manager betting by Mick McCarthy, who is currently the even-money favourite to replace him at Bolton, at 5/1 alongside Karl Robinson, while Alex McLeish and Michael Appleton are priced up at 6/1 for the post.

Perfect candidate

Sky Bet Football Trader Chris Spicer said: "Coyle looks the perfect candidate given his previous work at the club but the nature of his departure raises questions, with the Clarets fans making their feelings perfectly clear when he took over their rivals. "Our punters seem to have no such concerns, backing him in from 4/1 from the moment we opened the market. "With Burnley at the wrong end of the table they will need their new manager to quickly re-ignite their season, but Charlie Austin is in lethal form and there's plenty of other talent in that squad to work with."
