After making a solid start to the season, Blackpool have picked up just one point since November, and the writing appeared to be on the wall for Ince following Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Barnsley, who are bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table.
Ferguson has been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs and Sky Bet will pay out should the former Rangers midfielder oversee at least 10 competitive games at the helm.
Former Wigan boss Owen Coyle is currently out of work and he's 4/1 second favourite, while Preston boss Simon Grayson is a 33/1 shot for a return to Bloomfield Road, having left for Leeds in 2008.
Sky Bet's Dale Tempest said: "This one had been coming so we were pretty sharp on opening up the book and it's no surprise to see Barry Ferguson in the driving seat.
"We've been as short as 1/3 on Ferguson already, but if the Blackpool board decide they want experience then the smart money's on Coyle at 4/1."
