Hull midfielder Mohamed Diame is delighted to finally be back on the field after a long injury lay-off.

The Senegal international returned from a knee problem to make his first start since December in Tuesday's Capital One Cup win over Rochdale, playing for an hour before giving way to summer signing Moses Odubajo.

"It was a great feeling and it's just nice to be back enjoying football again," Diame told the club's official website.

"I didn't feel too bad considering it was my first game back. My knee felt perfect and that was the most important thing after everything.

"I felt I could play football the way I wanted to again. Training and playing are never quite the same so it was good to be involved in a few strong challenges. I needed that.
