BEAGS SAYS: Wigan showed everything against Barnsley in that resounding win on the opening day of the season but have found things tougher since and there are questions to be answered. This game was typical of a lot of Championship matches we've seen this season - very close and very tight - but Middlesbrough played with a sort of front three and were terrific on the break. Boro are trying to enter the transfer market - I don't think they will get Ross McCormack from Leeds as I don't feel they will pay what Leeds are looking for - but in Mustapha Carayol, Albert Adomah, Lukas Jutkiewicz and Marvin Emnes they've got people who can cause problems up the top end of the pitch.
Watford 1-1 Nottingham Forest
BEAGS SAYS: Lewis McGugan is a sensational player with thunder in his boots and to have the temperament and concentration to score a free-kick like he did against his old team-mates [was great] as his heart must have been pumping - but McGugan's equaliser was just part of a game that showcased the quality of both squads. When Forest boss Bill Davies was at the club before, he told the media he wanted to bring players in and perhaps, by not talking to the press now, he is being slightly less outward. He has, though, got signings in and I think the acquisition of centre-half Kelvin Wilson gives Forest a fantastic chance this season.
Wolves 2-1 Crawley
BEAGS SAYS: Kenny Jackett will be pleased - and secretly ecstatic - with not only Wolves' points tally but all the different performances they have had to put in and the goals they have scored. They are playing an open style with a lot of local kids who want to go and express themselves, but the players are also hunting in packs off the ball, which is a refreshing attitude to see from Wolves. There were over 17,000 people at Molineux on Friday night to watch them beat Crawley and that shows that whatever division Wolves are in, if they place nice stuff fans will flock to see them.
Dagenham & Redbridge 1-1 Newport
BEAGS SAYS: There is a massive sense of belief at Newport and in Chris Zebroski and Christian Jolley they have players with a great work-ethic who are putting in good performances. Manager Justin Edinburgh has been a bit critical of his team for not finishing teams off when they are on top, but the 4-1 win over Accrington on the first day of the season and the Capital One Cup victory at Brighton have been great boosts for them. With the momentum Newport have got, I think they can do more than just stay in League Two.
BEAGS' SPECIAL MENTION
Huddersfield's James Vaughan
BEAGS SAYS: This season has been an absolute cakewalk for Vaughan now that he is getting the service from the creative forces of Adam Hamill and Adam Clayton. The worry with James is his fitness - if there were no question marks about it he would be a Premier League striker and not have signed for Huddersfield for £1million - but he stays very central and is the pivotal player up front. His confidence is sky high at the minute after his hat-trick against Bournemouth and he can be a major player in the Championship.
