Emilio Nsue has become Birmingham City's third signing of the January transfer window after joining from Middlesbrough.

Sky Sports News HQ reported on Tuesday the Sky Bet Championship club were in negotiations with the 27-year-old, and the full-back has now put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal at St Andrew's for an undisclosed fee.

Birmingham manager Gianfranco Zola was targeting right-back cover after revealing defender Jonathan Spector could be leaving the club for an MLS side, with Nsue now joining Lukas Jutkiewicz and Craig Gardner in heading to Zola's Blues permanently this January.

Equatorial Guinea international Nsue joined Middlesbrough in 2014 having spent eight years at Mallorca in Spain, becoming a key player for Aitor Karanka's side as they achieved promotion from the Sky Bet Championship last season.

The 27-year-old leaves Boro after 80 appearances for the Riverside club, and will wear the No 2 shirt at Birmingham.
