Jota - Birmingham (signed from Brentford)

I've watched this lad at Brentford and, especially after his performances last season, I've been waiting for a Premier League club to come and get him. Every time I've seen him he's been creative and normally brings a goal to the table. I don't actually think his all-round game belongs in the Championship.

I would have taken him in a flash if I was a representative of any Premier League club outside the top seven, especially for the money Birmingham have paid for him - that's how highly I rate him. If he can replicate his Brentford form then he'll help propel them up the table.

Harry Redknapp has been backed by the Birmingham owners to change things in the transfer market, and if he can get them to gel quickly then he should have a chance. If they can play to Jota's strengths then he'll have a huge role to play.

Robert Snodgrass - Aston Villa (on loan from West Ham)

It's a bit of a surprise to see Snodgrass dropping to the Championship to be honest. He didn't really do it at West Ham, which was a big opportunity missed for him, but he was fantastic at Hull in the first part of last season.

Steve Bruce has worked with him before and knows he's getting a player he can get the best out of. I've never seen him have a bad game in the Championship because at that level the quality he has stands out.

It was actually quite refreshing to see that he wanted to go somewhere and play rather than just pick up his wages on the bench at West Ham. That proves he's still hungry and it's great news for Aston Villa.

Ezgjan Alioski - Leeds (signed from Lugano)

I must admit I didn't know an awful lot about him until I covered Leeds' trip to Nottingham Forest last week. Thomas Christiansen's side gave arguably one of the best overall performances I've seen from them in the last five or ten years and Alioski was the one who stood out.

He had great energy with or without the ball, worked hard, put Forest players under pressure and was very creative. He can go past players and showed he can shoot. It looks like Leeds have a little diamond on their hands there.

Leeds were overly reliant on Chris Wood for goals last year, and Alioski looks like one of those players who will chip in to make up for his loss.

Tom Lawrence - Derby (signed from Leicester)

Tom stood out in a struggling Ipswich side last season and looked like a real star while also fitting into a team under Mick McCarthy that had a real work rate and ethic.

Unfortunately for Ipswich he was way out of their price range and has ended up at one of the bigger-spending clubs in the Championship.

Derby lost Tom Ince over the summer and Lawrence won't be anything like a direct replacement for him, as they're very different types of players, he's more of a passer and mover while Ince was more of a dribbler, but he will be a big player going forward for Gary Rowett's side.

Ruben Neves - Wolves (signed from Porto)

An interesting signing to say the least. Wolves have spent an incredible amount of money on this exceptionally-talented player, who was captaining Porto in the Champions League at 18.

As you'd expect the technical aspects of Neves are exceptional, but could he do it in the Championship? Well, in the first few games he's played in it appears that he can. He looks the part and can control and dictate games if he's allowed to.

Cardiff managed to stop him and Wolves a couple of weeks ago, and maybe that game was a template for other clubs to follow. But he's been excellent so far.
