Blues set to buy

BIRMINGHAM CITY are primed to make a series of moves in the transfer market.

Aliou Cisse has been persuaded to head for St Andrews, after a £4.5 million deal was set up some time ago with his club Paris Saint Germain.

The Senegal skipper has confirmed he is happy to be heading for the Midlands, after initially casting doubt on the transfer, with a four-year contract ready to be signed.

Wimbledon's Kenny Cunningham, also a target for Sunderland, is another name on Steve Bruce's hit-list, and Sochaux striker Pierre-Alain Frau was watched again at the weekend.

Bruce confirmed his interest in Cunningham, but knows he faces a fight to land the Republic of Ireland international.

"There is an interest in Kenny but other clubs are looking at him as well," said Bruce. "We'll have to wait and see."

Emanuel Olisadebe remains a striking option for Blues, as does Nuno Gomes, who could be close to agreeing a switch to Tottenham.

"Everything is looking good," admitted Panathinaikos' Polish powerhouse.

"I am happy Birmingham have come in for me.

"I am excited about coming to England to play for Birmingham. Everybody is excited!"
