The former Eagles boss made a move for Morrison just after his controversial switch to St Andrews, and is still interested in him.
New Palace boss Trevor Francis has challenged Bruce to match the club's £5 million valuation of the Republic of Ireland international, but Bruce is remaining calm.
"We have made an offer, Palace know of our interest," Bruce told the Evening Mail.
"But there are other irons in the fire apart from him.
"I don't think it's right of me to be talking about another club's player, especially as nothing has materialised.
"If Palace want to pass comment, then that's up to them."
After landing Senegal skipper Alou Cisse, Bruce is lining up a move for Polish striker Emanuel Olisidebe, although Morrsion could still be on his wish list.
Bruce is playing a waiting game and hoping that financial constraints may force Palace to lower the asking price for Morrison.
Meanwhile, Dele Adebola could be set for a return to the fray with Birmingham, after impressing Bruce in training.
Adebola has not had his contract with the club renewed, but has been allowed to train with the club after failing to find another employer, and his efforts have impressed the boss.
"Dele phoned me up last week and asked would it be possible to carry on training with us during pre-season and it wasn't a problem for me," said Bruce.
"He is out of contract and no longer our player but if nothing materialises for Dele then, possibly, the door might just be open for him here again.
"Judging on yesterday, he's looking as fit as I have seen him. You can tell he has worked extremely hard over the summer."
