Premiership new boys Wolves had appeared poised to sign the Cameroon international on a season-long loan deal with a view to a permanent move to Molineux.
But Bordeaux launched a last-ditch bid to snatch Kameni and the teenager spent last week training with Les Girondins.
Bordeaux boss Elie Baup has been impressed with the 19-year-old but needs to offload Frederic Roux to Birmingham City before he can snap up Kameni.
In the meantime, rumours in France suggest Wolves have made an improved offer to lure Kameni across The Channel.
The highly-rated African admits he is uncertain where his future lies as he awaits a decision regarding his next move.
"I don't know what to do," lamented Kameni. "I won't move and I will call my agent."
Wolves will be hoping Midlands rivals Birmingham can agree a deal to sign Middlesbrough shot-stopper Mark Crossley as that would leave the way clear for Dave Jones to capture Kameni.
Birmingham have been haggling over a fee for Crossley and had lined up Roux as a cut-price alternative, with the St Andrews club appearing to be the masters of Kameni's destiny.
