The Blues have been desperate to bring in goalkeeper cover, with Vaesen's injury believed to keep him out until the New Year.
However, Vaesen has been working hard in his recuperation, and things have gone better than anyone anticipated.
"I am now looking at possibly early October to be available to play for the reserves again, and then it will be a case of trying to get some rhythm back.
"I think the club felt that December was the original time scale but things have been feeling okay and I am into the rehabilitation work."
Blues boss Steve Bruce brought in experienced goalkeeper Maik Taylor over the summer, meaning that Ian Bennett, Taylor and Vaesen will all be battling for the number one jersey.
