The Birmingham striker, who has scored five goals in 11 games for the Republic, is hoping to be given the nod to replace the injured Robbie Keane.
Morrison, who scored the winner against Australia last month, is keen to be given the opportunity to start his first competitive international so as to lose his supersub tag.
"I just hope I'm playing," said Morrison. "I've got a good record for Ireland - in fact I wish Birmingham played in green.
"I don't want to be a supersub. Against Scotland I won the man-of-the-match award.
"I feel fit. To start would be the best feeling ever."
Meanwhile, Everton's Lee Carsley is set to join the squad after proving his fitness in a reserve game on Tuesday night.
Carsley has been out with a knee injury but played 60 minutes in a 5-0 win over Wolves and he is set to boost Brian Kerr's plans.
