The club's £5.5 million record signing from Blackburn Rovers during the summer is still finding his feet at St Andrews.
The 23-year-old has been operating on the right wing, a position he feels unaccustomed to, and is yearning to be thrust into the centre of midfield.
He has not unduly allowed his mild dismay to affect his performances as he has scored twice for Blues, although he does have two penalty misses to his name.
The England international is generally happy with his form but wishes he was involved in the thick of the action, rather than being stuck out on the flank.
"I feel good but I am playing on the right and I am not a natural wide player," opined Dunn.
"Sometimes it's frustrating for me. I just want to get on the ball and it's difficult to get it when you are playing out wide.
"Sometimes you try and overdo it because you are not getting as much of a touch as you would like but I have got to keep going."
