Dunn has endured a miserable time with a persistent hamstring injury in the last few months.
The former Blackburn ace has played only once since the end of February when he suffered the hamstring injury against Sunderland.
Dunn aggravated the hamstring problem in pre-season and he was forced to miss the start of the season.
The 24-year-old has undergone a series of treatments on the injury and Blues boss Steve Bruce is hopeful that Dunn is finally over his problems.
"He's resumed training again and everything has gone okay," said Bruce.
"We're hopeful the treatment has done the trick."
Meanwhile, Bruce has given a vote of confidence to striker Mikael Forssell with the player still to score this season.
Forssell is a major doubt for Saturday's clash with Charlton with a knee problem and Bruce is ready to give him until the last minute to prove his fitness.
"We need to rally around him," said Bruce.
"Mikael Forssell is a major doubt as he has a very sore knee."
