Steve Bruce wants his strikers to fill the void left by Mikael Forssell.Birmingham boss Steve Bruce has challenged his strikers to deliver the goals in the absence of key man Mikael Forssell.
The Finland international has been ruled out for the duration of the campaign after undergoing a serious knee operation on Wednesday.
Forssell, on-loan from Chelsea, netted 19 times last term but now leaves a serious void at St Andrews.
However, the Blues boss still believes there is enough quality left in his squad to deliver results.
''Losing Mikael for effectively the rest of the season is a huge blow,'' conceded Bruce. ''It is like Liverpool being without Steven Gerrard and Manchester United without Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
''But we have to overcome the current situation and we've got to battle with what we have got. We've got some good players here.
''We've got three strikers and also the option of playing David Dunn off the front so it is up to them to grasp the nettle.
''It puts the onus on Dwight, Emile, Clinton and Dunny. It is left open. No-one is in front at the moment.
''If someone comes in and does the job, then great.''
