David Dunn has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a hamstring injury.Birmingham midfielder David Dunn has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
The injury-plagued England international has been told he needs more surgery on his problematic hamstring.
Dunn has been beset by the hamstring problem for more than a year and his latest comeback has ended in tears yet again after he broke down in training on Thursday.
"Everybody at the club is devastated for David," said chairman David Gold.
"He is the consummate professional and has worked so hard to try and overcome this back and hamstring problem.
"It has been a nightmare time for him and for us because there is no doubt that he has been one of our most influential players.
"He's a flair player and we've missed him and Stan Lazaridis for most of this season.
"He's tried to battle on by having injections and doing rehabilitation work but it's come to the stage where he has to have surgery.
"He will probably be out for four to five months but we are optimistic that he will make a complete recovery."
Dunn has been limited to just 13 games in the last nine months for Blues.
