Birmingham boss Steve Bruce admits he has been tough on Clinton Morrison.Birmingham boss Steve Bruce admits he has been tough on Clinton Morrison after adding two strikers to his squad in the January transfer window.
Morrison looked to be bringing the best out of Emile Heskey in a productive December that yielded four successive wins but Bruce still elected to bring in Walter Pandiani and Robbie Blake.
Both players have usurped Morrison in Blues' pecking order and Bruce concedes that the Republic of Ireland hit man has been treated harshly.
''It's inevitable in my job that you sometimes feel you've let people down - and that is certainly the case with Clinton,'' admitted Bruce.
''He has played his part as much as anyone over the last couple of years and his form in December was as good as at any time since he's been here.
''But it's my job to get players in and strengthen the squad. Hopefully Clinton understands that.
''Of course he's not happy to be left out - and I wouldn't expect him to be.
''But I've made it clear to Clinton that he is still very much part of my plans.
''We'll definitely be opening negotiations with him in the summer over a new contract.''
