Espanyol have warned they will not be held to ransom over Walter Pandiani.Espanyol have admitted they will look at other alternatives after seeing their latest offer for Walter Pandiani snubbed by Birmingham.
The Barcelona outfit are keen to land the Uruguayan marksman in January and say the player wants to move to the Montjuic, but their latest gambit has been rebuffed by Blues and claim it will be tough to up the ante any further.
Espanyol are not ruling out landing Pandiani, but have confirmed their intention to consider other strikers.
"We cannot do any more in this negotiation," maintained Espanyol technical secretary Cristobal Parralo. "We have offered all we can.
"We are not ruling out a move, the player is enchanted by returning to Spain and playing for Espanyol, but we do not have a solution yet."
With a deal for Pandiani seemingly at a crossroads, Espanyol are "looking at other options," according to Parralo.
The Spaniards are also keen to loan out youngster Jonathan Soriano, who they feel needs to be playing regularly, while talented defender Miquel Robuste has signed a new five-year deal.
