Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has revealed he is running the rule over two strikers.
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce has revealed he is running the rule over strikers Dave Nugent and Izale McLeod as he seeks to bolster Blues' striking options.
The proposed sale of Walter Pandiani to Espanyol and an injury to summer signing Mikael Forssell means a new striker is top of Bruce's January transfer window wish list.
While refusing to comment on proposed targets, Preston forward Nugent would appear to be at the head of that shortlist after Bruce took in North End's recent match against Sheffield United.
"It's no secret that we are looking for people so we are going to get linked with this player and that player. It is wrong for me to talk about individual players," said Bruce.
"I went to watch Preston against Sheffield United and people are putting two and two together although, of course, it was an ideal opportunity to see the lad."
Bruce is also keeping tabs on McLeod who has impressed once again this season despite the struggles of League One side MK Dons.
A host of Premiership clubs have taken an interest in the former Derby man and Championship side Wolves recently had a bid rejected but Bruce will not be rushed into showing his hand ahead of the January sales.
"McLeod is another one we have been keeping an eye on but that's as far as that goes - that is where we are at with it," added Bruce.
"It's going to be a big ask of anyone we may want to get in so we have to make sure (a) the player is available and (b) what we are bringing into the football club."
