Doyle commits to Blues

Birmingham City keeper Colin Doyle has spurned Millwall to sign a new deal with Blues.

Birmingham City goalkeeper Colin Doyle has spurned the chance to join Millwall by signing a new deal with Blues.

The 20-year-old made 14 appearances on loan with The Lions, with the South East London club wanting to make the deal permanent ahead of next season.

However, the Irish custodian has decided to sign a new two-year contract at St Andrews, keeping him at the Midlands club until the summer of 2008.

"I am very happy now that everything has been done," Doyle told Birmingham's official website.

"Millwall spoke to me, but they couldn't offer me anything legally until my contract expired at the end of June.

"But when I had to make a decision, I had no hesitation in committing my future to Blues.

"Now, I will be looking to get as many games as I can and continue progressing."
