Simon Davey says he will appeal over Bobby Hassell's dismissal in the win over Birmingham.
Barnsley boss Simon Davey says he will appeal over Bobby Hassell's dismissal in the win over Birmingham.
Hassell and Birmingham midfielder Neil Danns were sent off by referee Mike Russell for violent conduct after a post-match brawl marred The Tykes' 1-0 win.
"There was an altercation between the players, but Bobby said he didn't do anything," said the Barnsley boss.
"The referee has said he will have a look at it and we will appeal because we don't want to be without Bobby for three games.
"It seemed to be handbags at 10 paces and that's why I went on to the pitch to try and calm things down.
"If something got said or what I don't know, it just happened as soon as the whistle went."
Birmingham's Steve Bruce said he would wait to view the video before making a decision on whether to appeal or not.
He also questioned Barnsley assistant manager Ryan Kidd for his reaction during the brawl.
Bruce said: "I saw their assistant wading in, so what's all that about? We will see the video evidence and make a decision from there over whether to appeal.
"I will not be making any comment until I have seen the referee's report."
