Birmingham have offered a deal to Juanma, according to the Deportivo defender's agent.
Birmingham City have offered a contract to Juanma, according to the Deportivo La Coruna defender's agent.
Juanma's present deal expires in the summer and he is keen to leave Deportivo, having previously been linked with Reading.
His priority is to remain in La Liga, but there has been no Spanish interest to date, with only Birmingham and Greek giants AEK Athens making offers.
The experienced stopper's agent Mario Parri has told skysports.com that Blues' offer is attractive, although Juanma is biding his time before making a decision.
"The English offer is excellent in the money question, but the player has decided to wait a little while before giving an answer," Parri told skysports.com.
"Birmingham desire to be a good team in the Premiership and the project is interesting in all aspects."
With regards to any offers from any of Deportivo's Liga rivals, Parri feels interest will be cranked up in the coming weeks.
He added: "There is still nothing concrete, but I believe that in a short time it will be a reality.
"Also Juanma decides. I have spoken with him and now he wants to continue in Spain, although if the offers are not very attractive, the foreign option is clear.
"The possibility to continue at Deportivo has been discarded for many reasons."
