Steve Bruce is eager for Carson Yeung's proposed takeover of Birmingham City to be completed quickly, in order for him to sort out the futures of players such as Maik Taylor and Mehdi Nafti.
The Blues chief has already conceded he harbours fears over his own position, but it is those of his players at the forefront of his thoughts.
Both Nafti and Taylor have reclaimed first team spots this term and with their existing deals to expire in the summer, Bruce wants to offer fresh terms to the pair.
However, it is likely any contract negotiations will be put on hold until Yeung completes the takeover, having bought an initial 29.9 per cent of the St Andrews outfit.
"Maik Taylor's contract is up next summer and so is the contract of Mehdi Nafti. There are decisions to be made," said Bruce.
"That is one of the reasons we need to get the takeover sorted out and, if it is not going to be, then it is not going to be.
"Players just get on with things but, if you are running out of contract, you want to know where you stand.
"For the club's sake we need to sort it out. In the case of Mehdi, we are just starting to see him performing the way we know he can play so we don't want him walking through the door next summer for nothing.
"With Maik, he has come back well this season and his experience is great. It's another one to sort out."
