Players upset to see Bruce leave for Wigan
Birmingham trio Liam Ridgewell, Stuart Parnaby and Franck Queudrue have expressed their disappointment at seeing Steve Bruce leave the club.
Bruce is expected to tie up his move to Wigan in the next 24 hours after Latics chairman Dave Whelan confirmed a deal had been agreed.
Ridewell was sad to see Bruce leave St Andrews, but has backed caretaker boss Eric Black to steady the ship in the wake of Bruce's departure.
Disappointing
"Obviously it is very disappointing (to see Bruce leave) the gaffer was the man who bought me to the club," Ridgewell told Sky Sports News.
"It is one of those things that happens in football.
"You know managers come and go and it is hard to take. Personally it is hard to take for me as he brought me to the club and it is disappointing to see him go.
Sometimes in football that happens and as a club, as players we have got to try and get on with it and do well by Eric Black.
"Obviously [Black] he is popular with the players. The players like him and we got on well with him when the gaffer was her.
"All the players trust in him and I am sure he will be good."
Move on
Ridgewell's team-mate Parnaby has called on the squad to forget Bruce's exit and concentrate on this weekend's game with Portsmouth.
"It is one of them things that happen in football really," noted Parnaby.
"He wanted to move on. Maybe the gaffer was pushed into a corner and decided that it was the best thing for him to do and best of luck to him.
"Whoever is in charge [this weekend] everyone has just got to stay professional and think about Saturday because everyone has to think of our game on Saturday.
"We have got to put it to one side for a week and get ready and prepare for a game really."
Queudrue revealed that Bruce wished all the players the best after saying his goodbyes to the squad.
"We are sad around here today, but life goes on and we have got an important game on Saturday against Portsmouth.
"We had a little chat with Steve and he is going so now we have to concentrate on the future for the club, for the fans.
"He wished us all the best and he got the same from us."
