Blues attacker frozen out at St Andrews
Birmingham forward Gary McSheffrey has revealed his frustration at a lack of first-team football at the club.
The 27-year-old had a difficult campaign last time out after a series of injuries and, despite regaining fitness, cannot seem to break into Alex McLeish's starting line-up.
The former Coventry player has fallen down the pecking order behind left-sided players James McFadden and Keith Fahey at St Andrews, although he impressed in a 3-2 reserve team defeat to Portsmouth in midweek.
"You're always hopeful," he told the Birmingham Mail. "But it's not looking great because I'm not getting on really when I've felt I could maybe make a difference.
"That's not been the case. I have just got to keep plugging away, keep my chin up and keep working hard."
