Spurs winger hoping to reignite his career at St Andrews

Birmingham City have confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur winger David Bentley is to join them on loan. As exclusively revealed by skysports.com earlier this week Birmingham were leading the race for Bentley after opening talks with Spurs. The England international was expected to be on the move during the winter window, having fallen out of favour at White Hart Lane. He joined Spurs among much fanfare in 2008, sealing a £15million switch from Blackburn Rovers. At that time he was considered to be one of the Premier League's most dangerous widemen, with a long international career believed to be mapped out in front of him. Unfortunately he has been unable to produce his best for Tottenham and has gradually slipped down the pecking order.

Creativity

Keen to get his faltering career back on track, the 26-year-old made it clear that he was ready to move on in January. Birmingham have made the most of that situation by snapping him up on a short-term agreement. Alex McLeish has been working hard to add creativity and goals to his Blues side, and his early New Year dealings have focused on those areas. Snapping up Bentley will help to provide ammunition from the flanks, while a deal to bring Rangers' former Derby and Wolves striker Kenny Miller back to the Premier League is also on the cards. Sky Sports News understands both deals are close to completion, with Bentley due in Birmingham over the weekend to undergo a medical.
