Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell has urged the club to build on their Carling Cup final victory and not ruin their week by losing to West Brom on Saturday.
The Blues caused one of the biggest upsets in cup final history to beat hot favourites Arsenal on Sunday 2-1 thanks to Obafemi Martins' opportunistic winner in the 89th minute at Wembley.
Despite the stunning win, the Blues are just one point ahead of their fellow Midlands opponents, with a defeat putting them right back in the mix of a relegation dogfight.
Ridgewell admitted that it was a wonderful feeling to bring home the trophy, but they had to take that momentum into avoiding the drop and beat the Baggies.
"The reality is we have won the cup which has been fantastic but now we have to make sure we stay up," said Ridgewell.
"Nobody wants to be relegated. Everyone is on a high - we're in Europe next season and it is all a bit of a fairytale.
"It has been a fantastic week and it will be lovely to show off the cup in front of our supporters - but it would really take the edge off it if we had just been beaten.
"We've got to try and take the cup thing against Arsenal into the match with West Brom.
"I don't think any of us will forget the job in hand and that is to keep picking up three points and getting to a safe target as soon as we possibly can.
"It's vital that we don't get distracted from that.
"The fans are understandably over the moon, but things wouldn't look so great if we ended up playing Championship football next season."
