Birmingham City winger Chris Burke believes he is playing the best football of his career since moving to St Andrew's in the summer.
Burke signed a two-year contract with Blues after leaving Cardiff City and has scored six goals in all competitions for Chris Hughton's side.
The 27-year-old believes it was the right time to move on from Cardiff and he is delighted with the way his time at Birmingham is panning out.
"This season, I have never felt better fitness-wise and strength-wise. I think I am playing my best football," Burke told the Daily Mirror.
"I am playing week in, week out and not getting subbed in the 70th minute or whatever.
"Sometimes it is best to have a fresh start and a new manager - you don't want to get too comfortable at a club.
"I felt it was the right time and knew if Cardiff didn't go up there would be drastic changes."
The former Rangers wide-man signed for Blues while Alex McLeish was still manager, but has praised his successor Hughton's impact at the club.
He added: "It didn't matter who signed me. Even if McLeish was still the manager I would have had to come and prove myself to my team-mates and the fans.
"It doesn't make a difference if it is Alex McLeish or Chris Hughton in charge.
"But the new gaffer is a gentleman and the players have a lot of respect for him and want to give their best.
"I can't speak highly enough of him as a man and a coaching person and our playing style suits me."
