Chris Coleman has praised the "incredible welcome" he has received from the Sunderland faithful but says he cannot offer any promises as the club languishes in the Championship relegation zone.
The former Wales manager, who was appointed as the new Black Cats' manager earlier this month, has overseen one victory and one defeat in his opening two matches in charge at the Stadium of Light.
Coleman, despite the perilous nature of where his side lie, has insisted he is "totally committed" and will not shirk the challenge.
When asked about the support he has received since his appointment, Coleman said: "Fantastic. Incredible welcome they have given me. Although I haven't got any promises for anyone.
"(However) I am totally committed to Sunderland and ecstatic to be here - I really am. Whatever I have got I will give to them (the fans). I can't give any more than what I have got, but I will make sure they get everything out of me.
"If they are happy for me to be here then I promise you it is not half as happy as I am to be here."
Sunderland picked up their first victory in 17 matches in all competitions with a 2-0 success over Burton Albion last weekend, but has warned that his side "have still got mountains to climb yet".
Coleman, who will take charge of his first home game in charge against Reading on Saturday, admits his side have "no excuses" over their unwanted home record - Sunderland have not won at the Stadium of Light in almost a full calendar year.
"I don't want everyone to think that overnight this team has all the answers all of a sudden - we have won one game and everything is rosy in the garden, because it is not," Coleman added.
"We have still got mountains to climb yet. I am certainly not put off by that."
Meanwhile, Coleman admitted that on-loan forward Lewis Grabban could be recalled by Bournemouth during the January transfer window but has received no such indication from the Cherries.
Coleman said: "They (Bournemouth) could do if they wanted to. There is a clause in the contract - there is nothing we can do about that. But as I understand it there has been no indication that (his return) is going to be the case.
"I think I am correct in saying Lewis is happy here. He is very important to us. Ultimately it will be up to Bournemouth. All the signs from the player are good."
