Stephen Caldwell saved Sunderland in a 2-2 draw against QPR.QPR were denied their first win in The Championship by a late goal from Steve Caldwell in a 2-2 draw against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
Paul Furlong had handed The R's an early lead only to be pegged back by Marus Stewart.
Martin Rowlands restored their lead for the visitors, but Caldwell saved the hosts' blushes when he headed home an injury-time corner.
Furlong had stunned the home crowd when he blazed past three Black Cats players before smashing home superbly past Thomas Myhre.
However, Stewart levelled matters when Julio Arca's long ball caught out the Rangers defence and the striker took the ball on and slotted home with aplomb.
Rowland then gave QPR the lead for a second time when he cut in from the wing and smashed home another fine goal.
It was hard luck on Sunderland who had begun to dominate possession and they almost levelled through Kevin Kyle - but for a fine save from Chris Day.
However, Rangers fans whistling for the end of the game, Sunderland claimed a draw with virtually the last touch of the game.
A Sean Thornton corner had the QPR defence back pedalling, and Caldwell rose superbly to power home an equaliser.
