Andy Welsh has extended his contract for another year at Sunderland.
Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy has decided to offer Andy Welsh an extension to his current deal.
The winger has extended his agreement with the club for another year, after joining The Black Cats from Stockport for £15,000.
The 22-year-old left winger has impressed McCarthy with his ability and attitude since the move, and the Sunderland boss is happy that he can reward the player.
McCarthy told the Sunderland website: "Welshy deserves his contract extension - his attitude has been magnificent and he has worked harder than anyone to improve physically and technically."
Welsh played eight times last season as Sunderland claimed automatic promotion, and he will hope that he can make a permanent impact in The Premiership in the forthcoming campaign.
