Sunderland's Tommy Miller is desperate to build on Sunday's win over Boro.Sunderland midfielder Tommy Miller is desperate to build on Sunday's win over Middlesbrough by beating West Ham this weekend.
The Black Cats had gone six games into the new season without a win, but stunned local rivals Boro with a 2-0 success at The Riverside.
Miller knows their three-point haul at Middlesbrough will be wasted if they fail to secure at least a point against The Hammers at The Stadium of Light.
"We have got West Ham in a massive game now next Saturday and if we don't get anything from that our work on Sunday won't count for anything," said Miller.
"We have got to push on against West Ham and hope to get the full points."
Prior to the weekend win Sunderland had gone 26 Premiership games without a top flight win, dating back to December 2002, however, Miller and his team-mates had faith in their own ability and were not worried about the unwanted record.
"Everyone kept going on about it, but it didn't bother me and I don't think it bothered the lads," he added. "We have got the win now.
"There has been a bit of anxiety from the fans and the press, but we have kept believing in the way we have played and Mick [McCarthy] has said just keep playing the way you are and it will come, and we have done that."
